Recipe 20:Raisin Scones

Ever since my new oven came in,I have 1001 recipes in my mind to try out :P
I am still not good at baking, but I will ensure to always improvise my skill from time to time.
Tonight,I tried out baking scones.Scones are my favourite pastries because I simply love the taste of butter in them.

Here's the recipe for you guys.

Ingredients

250 g flour
3 tbs of baking powder
25 g sugar(I blended castor sugar)
55 g butter(soften first outside of the fridge)
100 g raisins
One egg
100ml fresh milk

Methods
1.Sift the flour,baking powder,and sugar in a bowl
2.In another bowl, whisk egg and milk together
2.Add in softened butter in the flour mixture and mix all ingredients using your hand until the mixture looks like bread crumbs.
3.Add raisin inside
4.Add fresh milk in step no 2 little by little and keep mixing using hand until the batter doesn't stick on your palm.
5.Knead the dough on a plastic wrapping with 2 cm thickness like in the picture below
6.Using a round-shaped cutter, press on the dough to make round-shaped scones or any shapes you'd prefer.
7.Grease on top of the scones with egg
7.Before baking, preheat the oven at 200 degrees celsius and later bake the scones for 12-15 minutes or until the top of the scones turn brownish.

Serve with jam and cream!!

Run Errands

At this point,I realized there's nothing really new about my outfits as I don't really have anything new anymore. Not that I'm already out of idea of how to dress up,or simply because I have a big hole in my pocket to buy something new,but as I mentioned before,I have unofficially stopped buying clothes since January this year(New year's resolution, maybe :P)though I think I am in an urge to buy new pieces soon :P

Haha, fret not, because I will try my best to mix and match my current clothes, and once in a while, you'll get to see something new from me.

This outfit's from yesterday.I did a lot of stuff, mostly ran some errands here and there, and only got home quite late in the evening,so nothing so fancy about my outfit.

Till then,bye.

Recipe 19:Red Velvet Cupcakes

As I mentioned in my previous post,I just bought a new oven and this red velvet cupcake recipe was my first attempt.I'm not really a big fan of red velvet actually, but I love its color,so I decided to make some on my own.

So,here's a recipe that I tried, basically I combined few recipes I found on the internet and change a bit here and there according to my convenience.

If you're a fan of red velvet, you should try this out ;-)

Ingredients

A
300 g flour
2 tbs of baking powder
1 tbs of soda bicarbonate
2 spoons of cocoa powder

First mix and shift all the ingredients above and set aside in a bowl.

B
A cup of sugar
125 g of butter(I used salted butter)
Few drops of vanilla essence
2 eggs

C
Few drops of red coloring(I used liquid type, you can also use powder type if you want)

D(Buttermilk substitute)
A cup of fresh milk
1 spoon of vinegar(I used apple vinegar)

E(Cream Cheese Frosting)
360 g cream cheese
Sugar as you desire(I prefer it not too sweet)
Few drops of vanilla essence
70 g butter

Methods

1.In my case,I substitute using buttermilk with a cup of fresh milk mixed with a spoon of vinegar, and set aside for 10 minutes before use.
2.Firstly,mix ingredients A and shift into a bowl and set aside
3.Mix ingredients B except eggs until  it forms nicely.
4.Later put the eggs one at a time and keep mixing using the electrical mixer
5.Now,add the flour mixture little by little, and alternately, add buttermilk(If you use any) or a cup of fresh milk added with a spoon of vinegar as stated in ingredients D.Keep mixing until everything blends well as in the picture below.
6.Now,add a few drops of red coloring into the batter, and keep mixing for a few more minutes
7.Preheat your oven at 180 degrees celcius  for 10 minutes and when the oven is ready, put the tray of cupcakes poured into your desired type of paper cup and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
8.Check whether the cupcakes are cooked or not by sticking into it using a tooth stick and if the stick comes out clean, that means the cupcakes are well cooked.
9.Set aside at room temperature and let them cool for a while.
10.In the meantime, prepare the cream cheese frosting(method here)and when ready, load in a piping bag and decorate your cupcakes with the cream cheese frosting as you desire.
11.Well,this is rather optional, but if you want, you can choose one of the ugliest cupcakes, and turn it into red velvet crumbs and sprinkle on top of your cupcakes like in the picture :P.

Happy baking!!!

Salam Maulidurrasul

Salam Maulidurrasul to all and happy long weekend to Malaysian fellows!
So,what's your plan for the long weekend?I am still stuck at my rental house, tomorrow has to get back to work.Yes,I know, work, again :(

Have you ever been in a dilemma which you don't know what to wear from your wardrobe? That's what happen to me lately, which I think I have tons of clothes, but I don't know what to wear anymore.I have unofficially stopped buying clothes actually, but everytime I want to wear something,I realized nothing really interests me anymore :(

When they're many people out there left starved, and not have enough money to feed themselves and their kids, all I can think about is the stress that I do not have idea what to wear out today?I must have been the most ignorant person in the world!

Well,I hope I can really survive not buying some unnecessary items, and mix and match my current clothes a lot more. There's nothing wrong with wearing something again and again, right?

Happy holiday everyone!

Sunday Brunch

I started my day today with an unfortunate incident.I was driving and kept driving, but after a while I realized there was something wrong with my car,it didn't get balance between left and right and when I went outside to check,I had one of the car tires flat. And to make thing worse,I do not know how to change a car tire, eventhough my car is equipped with the smart kit.Bam!

Luckily, there was a nearby tire shop and I got it fix immediately. That's not all.I am worried to death right now as I haven't been receiving any message thru whatsapp or sms from my dear Ramon. It has been 2 days since our last conversation.I understand if he's in a very very remoted area with no internet of phone connection, but this really scares me out.

Should I just pretend that everything is ok?Or should I really dig in information about his whereabouts from his family or friends?

Since the last 2 weeks,I have been making my own brunch routine on Sunday morning while revising my German lesson the day before at any coffee or kopitiam shop.I always remembered how much I loved to study in 24-hour restaurants in Japan, because I can dig in food while studying :P

Now,my old routine is back,I'm gonna make this my weekly Sunday routine from now on ;-)
The stains you see on my skirt are real. They're from the curry laksa I ate at a local kopitiam today -_-

Recipe 18:Bittersweet Tiramisu

Tiramisu is one dessert that needs less time consumption, but still tastes good.
Today,I decided to make a small square cup of Tiramisu, only for myself to indulge in during this time of month, well, you know what I mean :P

Here is the very very basic recipe of Tiramisu by me.Normally, you have to use chiffon cake, either you bake it yourself or the fastest way is just to buy the ready-made one :P
I went to local grocery shop, but didn't find any chiffon cake, and too lazy to drive a bit farther to supermarket to buy one :P.So,instead I bought Apollo Layer cake to substitute the chiffon cake, though the cake itself is a bit sugary. So,I suggest to you to find a real chiffon cake,ok?

Check out the recipe below

Ingredients

Chiffon cake(Cut in square shape, any size you want and must fit your container)
Coco powder for topping
Coffee(Dissolve in hot water,I used ground coffee but of course you can also use nescafe,3 in 1 coffee or any coffee you want. But,it's better not to add sugar inside the dissolved coffee to keep the bitter taste of it)
Cream cheese(Frosted, can check my carrot cake recipe here for the direction)

Method

1.In a container(any size of container you like, big or small,no prob),place the chiffon cake to fit one layer in the container
2.Soak the cake by pouring some spoons of coffee until every inch of cake is soaked, but not too much, otherwise the cake lose its taste
3.The next layer is the cream cheese.Top the cake layer with cream cheese until it covers the cake layer underneath
4.Repeat the 1 and 2 steps, and lastly the 3rd step until reaches the surface of the container but make sure don't go over the surface.
5.Top off the most upper cream cheese layer by scattering cocoa powder.
6.Voila!

School Satchel

Today is my second German class, and so far, this language really turns my mood on the highest level ;-)
It was so fun,and especially the other people in the class were all very helpful and energetic because everyone discovers something new, including me.

Can't wait to be back next week.
The first time I wanted to buy this satchel,Ramon was very hesitant, not because he was the one to pay,but because he said I was a bit too old for a "school back".

The fact is,I feel so schooled again after I started to bring this satchel to my German class for 2nd time today in a row.It really makes me miss to start a real school all over again :P

What's your weekend plan,guys?

Red Babies

Feels like effort has been taken away from me.It gets me long to post something new than I ever did.Well, maybe I am hit by this syndrome called 'bored of posting same stuff again' sorta thing.
There are times when I think about varying the contents of this blog, personal matter off-limit.
Like more recipes and nice pictures of what I cook, some art in photography or stuff like that.
Well, maybe when I change to that,I might get in a higher gear to write more?Time will tell.

In the meantime, for the first time,I brought these red babies I purchased last week to see the sun ;-)
Ah,I never thought my feet would look so sexy in red heels? These are not the usual heights of heels I would wear, considering they're still low type of heels, but I so am in love about the fact that they make my legs look longer and sexier :P

Tell me guys what do you like me to write about other than outfit entries?

And as I spoke before,I planned to go to school again. The school I mentioned before is actually a German class course, enduring for 6 mnths in the heart of KL.
As many would have noticed,Ramon is a German and insisted me to learn his language because he knows I'm a smart learner for certain matter.German isn't the first foreign language I learned and will learn,in fact I had been learning Japanese since 2003 when I decided to pursue my degree in Japan university back in the period of 2005-2009.

Every language has its own difficulty,if learning Japanese would promise you with the difficulty to learn it's 3 special characters and many more,I'm sure German is no less difficult.
I'm not telling everyone will get it hard to conquer a new language, but a time or another, you might face it.
For me,German will become a crucial language to me from now on,so whether I want it or not,I have to face it seriously.

All I know is,this whole journey will be so much fun!

Valentino Inspired Heels

Shoes are things that I am obsessed about. In particular, heels.I know no heels were designed to give you comfort, but once in a while you'll find a pair of those that can give you both beauty and comfort.

When buying heels, there're many aspects I will consider about, rather than just buying them for they look tempting,or because they can simply make a girl look gorgeous by having an instant pair of long legs.
Because most of the time, pictures won't do any justice, and being a girl,we always fall so easily for such nice pictures and advertisement.

Well,in my case,a big consideration over time is all I give for when buying shoes. And a bit of money,of course. Not that I doubt shoes at less price will give me any good when wearing them,in most cases when I wore cheap heels, after a while they were torn out here and there.and of course, that amount of pain I had to go through isn't something I can stand with.

So,after many lessons learned,I now know what I want and how to accomplish a pair of heels that don't only give me beauty and an instant pair of long legs, but also comfort ;-)

Last Tuesday I purchased these red babies from Zara sale.Truth is,these shoes I had long wanted from Zara rack was reduced by RM40.Not much, but still within my budget ;-)

These shoes remind me so much of Valentino studs I always admire.Only that,I cannot afford to buy the real deals, and Zara always comes up with much or less similar designer inspired, and I was totally in love with this pair I bought recently!!

And foremost, they're comfortable too! What else do you want in a pair of heels if not beauty and at the same time comfort?

Can't wait to rock them!

First Picnic of 2013

Once in a while,I love going to the park and have a little picnic with my friend. It's not very often and a good choice for people in Malaysia to go picnicking in this weather. However, the recent weather gives me a chance to do so today.

Lake Gardens is always my number one favourite. If NYC is proud to have Central park,we're proud to have Lake Gardens.Nevertheless this time around, the scenery wasn't as pleasing as it was before. Can't blame it as with the unexpected weather nowadays,it's hard to make the gardens look clean and beautiful.

Just look at the lake in one of the pictures, not the best condition of it since the last time I was here, but I'm sure next time I come, everything will be as beautiful as it always was ;-)

About my OOTD today, just imagine how comfortable the chinos I wore are, felt like wearing them all day long ;-)

Till then.

Homemade Pancakes with maple syrup.Yumms!
